Seeking partners for sex, cohabitation and marriage can be viewed as a kind of market. We’ll discuss how these markets were traditionally organized in the city, how did they change throughout the last 50 years, and what changes were introduced into people’s lives by the dating websites and apps.

Daniil Alexandrov is a sociologist who studies education and inequality, migration, social networks offline and online, as well as digital traces of people’s behavior and other problems of social informatics. He teaches at the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg, where he also takes administrative duties as the dean of the School of Social and Human Sciences and deputy director of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg.
